Adherence
to electronic-Government Interoperability Framework (e-GIF) specifications
and policies is mandatory for legacy systems involved with electronic
service delivery targets and for new systems for the exchange of
information between government systems. Who needs to use this web site?
UK Government and citizens
UK Government and businesses (world wide)
UK Government organisations
UK Government and other governments (UK/EC, UK/US etc.)
To help suppliers to Government, procurement officers and project
managers perform e-GIF compliance self-assessments and deliver successful
project outcomes, the National Computing Centre (NCC), with the
support of UK Online and the Cabinet Office e-Government Unit, has
launched a unique, web-based e-GIF Compliance Assessment Service.
How
should purchasers use this web site?
Ask your suppliers to supply you with the reports from the self-assessment
as evidence of the compliance of their products and services.
Make sure that they keep you updated with compliance reports
throughout the procurements process and afterwards when there's
a new release. Make the report from this website part of your
acceptance test process.
How
should suppliers use this web site?
Test your design using the self assessment tool throughout the
development process. Make sure that your repeat the tests when
the design changes. Use the output of the tests as clear statements
of compliance for your customers. This may be the summary report
that shows that your product, service, or system complies with
the relevant parts of e GIF or the complete report that gives
your customers confidence that you are working towards areas
where compliance has yet to be achieved.
You can download more guidance from The
Buying Compliance Scrapbook (253kb). The benefits of the e-GIF
Compliance Assessment Service
Essential information about e-GIF
compliance is available in an easily digestible, well structured
format, enabling you to quickly get up to speed with compliance
issues. The service is constantly updated with the latest e-GIF
information and news.
The self-assessment process allows you to benchmark your own activities
against the Framework, providing you with a standardised, objective view
of compliance status. This will enable you to quickly and economically
identify, for example, what issues need attention or where additional
work needs to be carried out.
You can contact the teams in the NCC and supporting organisations through
the e-mail help facility and/or consult a growing FAQ section.
You can also access our list of e-GIF
related product and service suppliers, to see what they can offer
you and to find out how you can contact them.
Scottish public sector organisations should see the Openscotland
page to learn more about the relationship between the e-GIF
and the Openscotland Information Age Framework (OSIAF). How to access the service
You can subscribe to the service online by visiting the register section. The service
charge for a subscription is based on the number of seats you wish
to purchase. Multiple seat subscriptions are substantially discounted
and a subscription lasts for 12 months.
If you need more information prior to registration, you can visit:
the Demonstration, which
steps you through the use of the service
the Introduction,
which outlines the context in which the e-GIF operates
the Help, in which the
FAQ explain what the e-GIF means for you (either as public sector
manager or supplier) in a 'question and answer' format
Future developments
The NCC will maintain
and update the site contents as the e-GIF
itself is updated. The service will support on-line self assessment
and storage of project assessment histories and the management of
assessment team member roles with respect to completing and signing
off completed assessments.
